DIN 912 Socket Cap Screws

DIN 912 is a well-known specification for hexagon socket head cap screws. The standard has been superseded by ISO 4762, but DIN 912 remains widely referenced in engineering drawings, purchasing specifications and existing assemblies.

A fully threaded socket cap screw provides thread engagement along most or all of the shank beneath the head.

A partially threaded socket cap screw incorporates an unthreaded shank section, which may be advantageous where the fastener passes through one or more components before engaging with a tapped hole or nut.

The correct design will depend on the joint geometry, loading conditions and required thread engagement.
