UK Manufacturer of special fasteners & precision components

Bolts

Pattern Fasteners manufactures special, bespoke and non-standard bolts for engineering and industrial applications.

From conventional hexagon and flange-headed bolts to shoulder bolts, shear bolts and highly specialised components, we manufacture bolts to customer drawings, samples and individual specifications.

Our UK manufacturing capabilities are particularly suited to requirements where a standard off-the-shelf bolt is unavailable, dimensions need to be modified or the component requires unusual threads, head forms, shoulders, bores, cross holes or other engineered features.

Special & Bespoke Bolt Manufacture

Bolts can perform considerably more than a simple clamping function. Depending on their design, they may also locate components, withstand shear loads, provide a pivot point, transfer fluids or incorporate features specific to a machine or assembly.

Pattern Fasteners can manufacture bolts with:

  • Standard and non-standard thread forms

  • Partial or full threads

  • Plain and precision-machined shanks

  • Special head diameters and head heights

  • Hexagon, socket and other drive forms

  • Shoulders, steps and reduced diameters

  • Cross drilled and axial holes

  • Grooves, slots and flats

  • Special points and end features

  • Customer-specific tolerances

Components can be manufactured from a wide range of materials and supplied with additional finishes or treatments where required.

Types of Bolts We Manufacture

Shoulder Bolts

Shoulder bolts incorporate a precisely machined unthreaded section between the head and threaded portion. The shoulder can act as a bearing surface, pivot, guide or accurately located spacer within an assembly.

Hexagon Flange Bolts

Hexagon flange bolts combine an external hexagonal head with an integral flange. The flange provides a larger bearing surface beneath the head and can help distribute clamping loads across the joint.

Shear Bolts

Shear bolts are designed for applications where controlled shear performance is important. They can be manufactured with specific shank diameters, material properties and features to suit the required application.

Banjo Bolts

Banjo bolts feature an internal fluid passage and cross-drilled holes, enabling fluid to pass through the bolt and an associated banjo fitting. They are commonly found within hydraulic, lubrication, braking and other fluid-transfer systems.

Non-Standard Bolts Made to Drawing

Many of the bolts we manufacture are produced because a standard specification does not meet the requirements of the assembly.

We can work from an existing engineering drawing, physical sample or detailed specification to manufacture a replacement or completely bespoke bolt.

This can include unusual combinations of:

  • Head geometry

  • Thread size and pitch

  • Overall length

  • Grip or shank length

  • Shoulder diameter

  • Hole positions

  • Material grade

  • Heat treatment

  • Surface finish

Where appropriate, we can also manufacture components based on recognised DIN, ISO or other engineering standards with dimensions or features modified to meet your requirements.

Bolt Materials

Special bolts can be manufactured in a wide variety of engineering materials, including:

  • Carbon and alloy steels

  • Stainless steels

  • Aluminium

  • Brass

  • Copper and copper alloys

  • Nickel alloys

  • Specialist and high-performance alloys

Material selection will depend on factors such as required strength, corrosion resistance, temperature, weight and the environment in which the bolt will operate.

UK Manufacturer of Special Bolts

Pattern Fasteners has manufactured specialist fasteners and precision-engineered components in the West Midlands since 1981.

Whether you require a modified standard bolt, an obsolete component reproduced from a sample or a completely bespoke fastener manufactured to drawing, our team can review your requirement and recommend an appropriate manufacturing process.
